The new on-campus addition which was first introduced fall 2014 is now operated and utilized by bike patrol officers.
According to UPD Police Chief Kevin Morris, the office will not be open regularly but rather intermittently as the bike officers return to the office to take reports, speak with students, faculty or staff, or return for a break.
“A few years ago when LSC expansion plans were being talked about, our department asked if it would be possible to obtain some space to work out of,” Morris said. “As we talked about it with the planning committee, the idea grew and some office space has been made available.”
With this sub-station, bike patrol officers will be able to remain on the main portion of campus instead of having to travel back and forth between the main UPD office located south of campus, making them more accessible to faculty, staff and students.
